CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Most classes feature several elements of traditional Ashtanga yoga—including sun salutations, standing poses,
dynamic stretching, pranayama (breathwork) and preparation for arm balances.
These practices will build strength, aid balance and weight loss, while reducing stress and increasing vitality.
Our Vinyasa classes are flowing, dynamic yoga practices that cultivate presence by connecting movement with breath.

Our classes are for every one at every level!
We have many beginners and older students, those with injuries and those who are self conscious about their bodies.
Let Haven be your home to take time out for you! We offer several different levels of classes and types of Yoga in Haven:

YOGA 101

Each week this class studies a single pose or set of poses, discovering the through-line that runs in yoga asana. Learn proper alignment, where to focus effort and where to find release. Not just for beginners, a strong yoga practice begins with a sturdy foundation, this class can fine tune even an advanced practice. Suitable for all levels.

GENTLE HATHA

A restful, calming class including breathing, gentle flowing movements, passive and supported poses. This is a perfect beginning yoga class that is also appropriate for those working with injury, limited mobility, or who prefer a softer, gentler approach to yoga. Suitable for all levels.

ALL-LEVEL FLOW

This slower-paced flow class is geared towards those new to yoga or preferring a slightly gentler class. Held in a warm room, time is spent breaking down sun salutations and other poses fundamental to a Vinyasa practice. Props and modifications offered for proper alignment and ease in the postures. Suitable for all levels.

HOT VINYASA

Hot Vinyasa classes explore complex movements and sequences layered over solid foundations. Held in a hot room (90 degrees). These classes may incorporate deeper backbends, hip opening, twists, and forward folds. The teacher will encourage rest periods and offer modifications as needed. Suitable for all levels but those new to yoga should start with Yoga 101 or Gentle.

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Yin is yoga at its coolest, deepest, quietest, stillest moments. This class will have you on the floor most of the time, using as many props needed to create as little effort while holding poses. Poses are held for 2-5 minutes allowing joints and fascia to release. This class will complement your Vinyasa practice and will open and release areas in need of more attention. Suitable for all levels.

POWER + PEACE

Power + Peace is an hour class that starts off with a vigorous flow, connecting movement and breath; followed by the second half of class spent in poses and active rest. It would be similar to a half hour of Vinyasa Flow followed by thirty minutes of a Yin class. This class is a great way to get the blood pumping and enjoy a deserved peaceful ending! Suitable for all levels, a basic yoga class experience is helpful.

BALL YOGA

By practicing yoga postures and yoga breathwork on the Balance Balls, students will enjoy gentle movements with added strength-building. This class loosens up the muscles and improves flexibility, posture, and range of motion by combining active stretching and self massage using yoga balls. Suitable for all levels.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. During the long holds of restorative yoga, however, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It’s a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body.
